On the first day of art class, each and every class reads "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds and each student makes their very own dot. "The Dot" tells the story of a young artist who struggles to believe she is any good at drawing. She practices and practices, and finally has an art show and teaches another little boy to make his artwork. I want all of our little artists to know that art is just like any other subject: math, reading, dancing, karate, basketball, swimming. Whatever it is, we must practice to get better; we are not always given talents, but we can manifest them if we try.
