"In ten or twenty years, it will no longer be important whether your child has produced a beautiful painting or drawing, but it will be very important indeed whether your child has grown up with a happy childhood, and whether he has been creative in his approach to the vocation which he has chosen, and whether he is flexible in his life, whether he can adjust easily to new situations."
-Viktor Lowenfeld
Viktor Lowenfeld is one of the leading historical art educators who promoted a humanistic form of art education. A humanistic view places the utmost importance on helping students to gain confidence through art making, being open and able to respond to new situations in life, and to be able to solve problems creatively.
Through art education at Heathrow, my goal is for all students to gain creative problem solving skills, the ability to make meaningful connections between art and other subject areas, have confidence and trust in their ability to be creative, the ability to see multiple perspectives on issues, and be able to express themselves visually and effectively.
