Our little artists have been studying symmetry and the principle of design balance the past few weeks in the art room. Check out these in-progress symmetrical beetles being painted with watercolor paints by our third graders. Students drew half a beetle with black oil pastel, folded the paper on the midline or line of symmetry, then rubbed the two sides together. When they open it up, the black oil pastel lines have transferred over to the other side of the paper, and you can easily trace to make a symmetrical beetle! Magic! Happy Friday! |
